Happy Father's Day

It's the end of another weekend... a big one at that.
Happy Father's Day to all those special men out there! I hope your day has been blessed with loving ones around you.

We started the weekend Thurs & Friday night at the state square dance convention in Tyler! Lots of dancers young and old. Friday night, Leah & Milton, Karl & Robin and Memaw had dinner at our house, then went to the convention center to watch Mike and I dance. They were somewhat amazed that we could do that - do-si-do! It's fun, good exercise.

Saturday, the Dahms and Memaw went to Sacul to celebrate father's day with Mike's dad. They still live in the back woods and enjoy their solitary life. Their health is holding on.

Leah and Milton left this morning to celebrate father's day with Miltons father and both grandfathers in Austin. Mike, Memaw and I went to First UMC Lindale to worship and hear the Dents (K, S & L) sing a trio song written by Taylor Davis - Robin played the piano - it was beautiful of course- the first time they sang as a family trio. The grandparents were busting their buttons. We enjoyed a meal with the Lincolns and then headed back to Tyler.

Tonight, Karl came over to see Memaw before heading to Dallas, Austin and Victoria this week. Bob Lincoln is having knee replacement surgery in Tyler on Thursday, so keep him in your prayers.

Love and hugs to everyone, come to Tyler when you can. We miss you all! "May the Lord watch between me and thee, while we are absent one from the other."

Meeting the Future

Last weekend Mike, Memaw and I traveled to Austin to meet Milton's family and celebrate Leah's birthday. We went to the Salt Lick BBQ place and saw the facility where the wedding will be held.

The food is fabulous and will be served at the wedding. Instead of a groom's cake, Milton wants to have Blackberry and Peach cobbler. Weather permitting, the wedding will be outside on the lawn and the dinner/reception will be inside the Thurmon Mansion.
The Perez family is very nice and easy to visit with. Milton is the product of loving and caring parents. They adore Leah and are excited about gaining a daughter in this union. The first meeting is over and now we can all relax and enjoy getting to know one another.
Looking forward to participating in the wedding plans and sharing this moment with you.
Love & hugs, DD.

Square Dancing Again!

I think it is safe to believe in the old saying - "it's like riding a bicycle!" At least for Mike and I, we got back on that "bicycle" last Monday night! We went to visit a square dance club in Hideaway. This group started lessons in January and had progressed to some more complex moves.
Mike went on line to find a club we might check out and found this one. We went to the lesson, thinking that we would need to start again, maybe a refresher. The group was warm, friendly and welcoming (as square dancing people generally are). It was great fun and good exercise!
The terminology was familiar and seemed like the body moved in the right direction - praise God! It's been about 12 years since we danced.

It was just the boost I needed to move the needle on the scale. Even more exciting, I have saved all my SQ clothes and tried them on last Saturday! OOOHHH! They fit! I can't believe it! That's exciting because you have to wear the clothes to make the dancing so much fun - I have a small closet full, including petticoats!

The great thing about all of this is the exercise, a couple of hours that your mind can't think about anything else - definitly a stress releiver and the fellowship with fellow dancers.

Alive and Well

We are alive and well in Tyler Texas! I haven't written in months, but thought I would reconnect!

Since last I wrote:

We met at the farm for Thanksgiving with Leah & Milton, Jennifer & Stephen and Karl & Robin. It was a great time together and a chance for some other members of the family to meet Milton.

Then, the next bit of news, Leah and Milton were engaged on December 10th. Milton is so romantic and presented Leah with a scrapbook of the keepsakes of their first year together. On the last page, an engagement ring was on a ribbon.

December brought our Christmas time together. Memaw, Mike and I went to Shreveport to visit with all the Dents! We enjoyed loving on all the babies and seeing them in action. Good to send time with you all!

Ryan and Melissa came from NC, Leah & Milton, Karl & Robin and Sarah joined in the festivities. We took lots of pictures and loved spending time together at our house. It was really good to have the family in our home. We haven't run Milton or Melissa off yet! (just kidding) Then, we spent a few days at the farm together and shared Christmas with Suzy & Eddie.

January was pretty quiet. We have been blessed with good health this month and manage to miss the flu and other cold symptoms. It has been cold, windy and wet most days.

February just began and we have just finished watching the super bowl... Mike and I were cheering on the "underdawg" who played an outstanding game! This month brings a trip to Austin to meet Milton's parents and family and celebrate Leah's 26th birthday.

I enjoy reading your blogs and keeping up with all of you. Hope to get reconnected. Days come and go quickly only to note later that we have accomplished those things that have to be done, but miss doing some of the little things that mean so much. Love & Hugs, DD.
