Can't believe it's been a week since last I wrote, but then again I can. I have been really busy this week. I went to Dallas Monday night with the work management group. We went to an all day workshop on Tuesday at the American Airlines arena -"Get Motivated" -with multiple speakers. We heard Gen. Colin Powell, Goldie Hawn and Zig Ziglar to name a few. It was a long day to say the least, but I made it just fine.
While I was in Dallas, Memaw started her move to her new home. Prestige. It's new, beautiful and the people are caring and loving. The chef is taken suggestions/advice from their # 1 resident. I went to see her Tuesday night to hug her neck and make sure she was settled in for her first night.
Wednesday, we began packing up items and moving things over to the new place. Then on Thursday, the same continued. Mike and his truck deserves the award for making this move happen. Needless to say - whew! With everything moved in, Friday, Mike and I went over to Canton for a few hours. With no specific mission in mind, we walked around and looked at a lot of "stuff".
Saturday, was a fun day....organization and setting up AV equipment...best of all 2 helpers came to the rescue! Karl flew in from Lubbock and Sarah came from Plano. The equipment is working and the pictures are on the wall, so it is looking like home. For supper, we took them to Juicy's for the best hamburger ever!
Today was the best all week. First, it's Sunday, our day of worship and a great family day! All were blessed to hear Karl sing "Blessed Assurance". We had lunch with Frode, the Music Minister at Marvin UMC, at Prestige in the private dining room. A great time for visiting and talking "music". The afternoon was so pleasant, we took a ride over to the farm. I liked the nap I took on the sofa at the farm with the sunshine beaming through the window on my body. The wind was blowing the trees a bit and the pasture was so peaceful. I think that was just what I needed to feel a moment of God's peace before I go back to work tomorrow after being off for three weeks. God is so good!
I am sending my love and may God's blessings be with you this week.

Life Connections
In the last couple of days I have experienced a need to feel connected to those in my life. I have a cell phone, an email box, then I created a "my space"and most recently created this blog thing. For what ? To find a way to stay connected. Easy access. One big priority - to stay connected to my kids who have moved away from home. I miss them so much.
Relationships are important, special and need to be cared for. Families and friends are separated by distance and time. Seasons of our lives create different situations. Sometimes life and lives get so busy that good intentions to make a call, write a note or get together are lost or fall to other priorities.
This is on my heart particularly in the last 24 hours - I saw my niece Candace & kids yesterday long enough to share hugs and kisses; then I received emails from two cousins and a girlfriend that I haven't been in contact with for a year. A dear friend, that happened to be in Tyler due to an ill relative, called this afternoon. I talked to Leah & Ryan this weekend, as well as brother Karl.
Hold on to those you love, hold tight. Don't let time go by without telling family and friends that they make a difference in your life. If you are reading this blog, know that you are a part of my life,
"I love you."
"May the Lord watch between me and thee, while we are absent, one from the other."

Singing Again
Tonight, I went back to choir practice after being out for 2 weeks. The voice is working and so are some muscles around my ribs and upper abdomen. Whew! I came home to find my massage chair and it is working wonders up & down my back.
The Marvin Church choir is going to Centenary College on Saturday for a choir retreat. We will take a bus over to Shreveport and spend the day at the college, practicing in the CCChoir loft. With all the Dent history there, if walls could talk! We will be practicing our Christmas music, the Rutter Gloria, among other selections.
There is a lot of great things going on at the church in Music Ministries. The Marvin Choir has been invited to sing at TCDA, (Texas Choral Directors Association) in San Antonio, next summer. This is quite an honor and privilege from what I understand. Quiet a few of my family members are music/choral directors in different capacities, so they will be in attendance.
Mike's report tonight, his dad is doing well after cataract surgery today. Please continue to keep him and me in your prayers for recovery. God bless you and grant you peace.

In the beginning...
Well, my nieces have started this...so I thought I would join in the fun. It's Tuesday night and pretty quiet since Mike is in Sacul with his folks. Eddie, is having cataract surgery tomorrow. Then, in two weeks he will have the other eye operated on.
I had surgery two weeks ago and recovery is progressing to my satisfaction. I am walking a 1/2 mile (around the the complex) in the morning. It is slow building my strength up, but one day at a time. I am planning to go back to work Oct 1st.
Memaw is moving to a new place next week. It is brand new and beautiful. We are going over there this week to let the staff practice in their serving skills and to try out the food (which is all homemade) a far cry from Atria.
I will try to share something worthwhile...
